Antik Dünyadan Günümüze Mimarlık Dönemleri
Mimarlık onu üreten kültürün sessiz bir kaydıdır. Uygarlığın en önemli göstergesi olan mimari yapılar, toplumsal değerlerin ve inançların birer sembolüdür. Herhangi bir dönemi ya da kültürü tanımak için bu dönemin tarihini ve sanatını anlamak gerekir. Mimarlık, tarihin ve sanatın buluştuğu sözsüz bir iletişim biçimidir.
Mimari deneyim büyük oranda fiziksel ve estetik haza dayanıyor olsa da bir yapıyı gerçekten deneyimlemek için yapının strüktürüne, tarihine ve anlamına ilişkin bilgiye sahip olmak gerekir.
